To Create Locations for Linear Assets

Follow these steps to define an asset location for linear assets.

Open the asset that you want to add its location, and select the Map tab. By default, this tab displays a list of locations for the asset, by route and off-set.
From the Actions menu, select Add Location, and then By map.

The map view appears. The Add Location dialog appears.

Note: You can remove the ability to save route and offset location, by clearing Retrieve network locations.
Change the magnification or positioning of the map by using the appropriate map tools. For more information, see Working with Maps.
Select the Select tool, and then choose Select by rectangle.
Click to add each vertex at the desired position on the map.
To complete the perimeter, join the current vertex to the first vertex, by double-clicking it.
You can adjust the location in the following ways:
1. Add a vertex by clicking on the geometry edge where no vertex currently exists.
2. Delete a vertex by clicking on it. The perimeter shape will adjust to the remaining vertices.
3. Select and drag each vertex that you want to move, and then release when the vertex is at the desired location.
When you are finished, click Save location.

The asset location is defined.
